GARY BETTMAN COMES OUT OF HIS SILENCE: THE COYOTES WILL STAY IN ARIZONA

AUG 20, 2021  (15H33)      ALEXANDRE DESROSIERS
Moving the Arizona Coyotes is not in the cards for NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. He is clear, clean and precise, despite the end of the agreement between Glendale and the Coyotes, the team will find a solution for the 2022-2023 season, since they will be evicted from the arena in question on June 30, 2022.

"I'm not worried about it. I think their future is in the Phoenix area," he said. First of all, I don't think the concession is going anywhere. I think the City of Glendale is negotiating. [...] Then, it's no secret that Alex Meruelo, the owner of the Coyotes, is looking at his options to build a new arena somewhere in the greater Phoenix area. And I believe Glendale has basically said to the team, "You have to sign a 20-year lease or we're not going to renew the deal."

Can we still expect a move to Quebec City? Anything is possible at this point and it's obvious that the commissioner will not leave any doubt for the moment.
