AT LEAST FOUR CAPITALS PLAYERS SLATED TO MISS TIME DUE TO COVID-19 PROTOCOL VIOLATIONS

Earlier Wednesday evening, the announcement came out that the Washington Capitals had violated COVID-19 protocols, resulting in a hefty fine for the organization. For more on that story, click here.

Now that the dust has settled, it appears as though four Capitals players have been added to the list for COVID-19 protocol related absences.

Per Samantha Pell of the Washington Post, captain Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Dmitry Orlov and Ilya Samsonov will be forced to miss action while they go through a series of COVID-19 tests, all of which must yield negative results prior to being eligible to return to action.

As if a $100,000 fine wasn't bad enough, losing 4 of your top players for the next week or so is definitely enough to get tempers flaring within the organization.

In a season where every point matters, this could be a very costly ordeal for the Washington Capitals in a very tough East Division.
