BENN, MILLER NOT AVAILABLE FOR CANUCKS SEASON OPENER, COULD BE WEEKS BEFORE THEY RETURN
With the 2020-21 season set to get underway Wednesday, the Vancouver Canucks have received some tough news. Both defenceman Jordie Benn and forward J.T. Miller are out of the lineup and it could be a couple of weeks before they return.
"My understanding is that due to COVID-19 concerns, D Jordie Benn and F JT Miller will not be with the Canucks for a couple of weeks," said TSN radio host Matthew Sekeres. "Both players are quarantining. Miller had been staying at Benn's Vancouver residence."
Benn was absent from practice Monday, the day after the Canucks abruptly cancelled workouts at Rogers Arena for what coach Travis Green later revealed was a «false positive» COVID-19 test on a player. Miller, who led the Canucks last season with 27 goals and 72 points in 69 games, practised Monday, but was absent on Tuesday, as was Benn. Miller has been living in Benn's basement suite
GM Jim Benning has confirmed that neither player will take part in the Canucks double-headers against Edmonton and Calgary to start the season, but wouldn't offer any further information.
