BLUES TO HONOR FRONTLINE WORKERS IN A VERY UNIQUE WAY THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF JANUARY

When the St. Louis Blues play their home opener on January 18th against the visiting San Jose Sharks, they will do so in front of the players' families and friends, hockey staff and other team personnel, with another contingent of attendees present - frontline workers.

Per the team's official website, a "limited number" of frontline workers have been invited to attend the game, which will be preceded by a ceremonial puck drop to pay homage to the countless frontline workers who have literally put their lives on the line to provide a wide range of continuous services during the 10-month-long (and counting) pandemic.

Blues President of Business Operations and CEO Chris Zimmerman issued a statement to express his excitement for the return of the game we all love and to pay his respects to the frontline workers, on behalf of the Blues organization.

"It's good news for everyone that Blues hockey is back home at Enterprise Center," said Zimmerman. "We are proud to welcome this group of local heroes as our guests to the arena as a way to express our admiration and appreciation for their selfless work to keep the St. Louis area healthy and safe."

These types of events will reportedly continue throughout the month of January at all Blues home games, with a number of approved frontline workers (under the guidance of St. Louis health and safety officials) in attendance. At each event, there will be enhanced safety measures in place to ensure the safety of all patrons at Enterprise Center, including social-distancing, with seating pods set up to maintain the standard six-foot minimum barrier between fans.

Thumbs up to the Blues organization for implementing a plan like this to show their appreciation for the frontline workers who have kept us all going throughout these challenging times.
