BRENT BURNS AND PATRICK MARLEAU NAMED IN GUN PERMIT SCANDAL IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY

A rather odd development coming out of Santa Clara County in San Jose, California suggests that two San Jose Sharks players were able to obtain concealed-carry permits for firearms between 2014-2018.

While that news may not seem odd upon first glance, the interesting and possibly incriminating factor in this scenario is that these types of permits are almost impossible to obtain for anyone outside of law enforcement.

Apparently, there are allegations that the Santa Clara County Sherrif Laurie Smith had been accepting "political bribes" in exchange for the casual acquisition of these permits.

Though the details are still being ironed out by Sharks beat reporter Paul Gackle, what we can ascertain is that the two players in question, who were among the 62 Santa Clara County residents that were issued these permits between 2014 and 2018, are Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau.

Neither Burns nor Marleau (now with the Pittsburgh Penguins), nor anyone from the PR department in the Sharks organization have commented on the matter, for obvious reasons.

With more details sure to be available in the coming days, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
