
CANUCKS BLUELINER TRAVIS HAMONIC TO MISS TIME WITH INJURY
On Thursday the Vancouver Canucks announced that defenceman Travis Hamonic was being placed on injured reserve after suffering an upper-body injury against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night. According to Rick Dhaliwal of TSN and The Athletic, Hamonic could miss at least a few games.
Hamonic signed a one-year contract with the Canucks on January 12th following a successful PTO. In five appearances for Vancouver this season, he's tallied 2 points (2 A), 4 penalty minutes, and is a +/-0.
The St. Malo, Manitoba native was drafted in the second round, 53rd overall by the New York Islanders in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Hamonic has spent parts of 11 seasons in the NHL with the Islanders, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks.
In 642 regular season games, he's tallied 190 points (37 G, 153 A), 595 penalty minutes, and is a +2. In 22 career playoff games, he has 4 points (1 G, 3 A), 33 penalty minutes, and is a -10.
Internationally, Hamonic has represented Canada on a couple occasions, most recently at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. In 6 games, he recorded 3 points (1 G, 2 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a +9 as Canada took home silver following a loss to the United States in the Gold Medal Game.
