CONN SMYTHE RANKINGS GOING INTO THE STANLEY CUP FINALS

With the Stanley Cup Final set to begin tonight between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Dallas Stars, we will take a look at the top 10 potential candidates to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. This has been one of the weirdest postseasons of all time, but the player that wins the Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP will surely be deserving of the award.

Here is where the players rank going into Game 1 tonight:

10. John Klingberg, D, DAL

Playoff Stats: 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists)

Klingberg is unlikely to win the Conn Smythe, but he has played very well during the postseason, averaging over 22 minutes of ice time per game.

9. Joe Pavelski, C, DAL

Playoff Stats: 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists)

Pavelski is tied for the team lead in goals, and has come up clutch in these playoffs. He is certainly doing everything he can to get his hands on a cup. Don't be surprised if he has a big Finals performance.

8. Denis Gurianov, LW, DAL

Playoff Stats: 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists)

Gurianov has been one of the surprises of the playoffs, as the rookie has come up clutch at many times. He scored the OT winner to end the Vegas Golden Knights' season.

7. Andrei Vasilevskiy, G, TBL

Playoff Stats: (14-5) 1.82 GAA, .931 SV%

Vasilevskiy has been a stud all year, and he would be higher if he didn't have such a good team around him.

6. Nikita Kucherov, RW, TBL

Playoff Stats: 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists)

Kucherov leads the league in assists during the postseason, and has been one of Tampa Bay's biggest difference makers.

5. Jamie Benn, LW, DAL

Playoff Stats: 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) Benn had a bit of a down year during the regular season, but he has made up for that with his performance in the playoffs. He will be a crucial player to watch for the Stars if they want to win the cup.

4. Miro Heiskanen, D, DAL

Playoff Stats: 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists)

Heiskanen leads all defenseman in postseason points thus far. He also leads the Stars in points, and he is one of the main reasons why Dallas has made it this far.



3. Brayden Point, C, TBL

Playoff Stats: 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists)

Point has arguably been the Lightning's best player during the playoffs, even through battling injuries last series versus the New York Islanders.

2. Anton Khudobin, G, DAL

Playoff Stats: (12-6) 2.62 GAA .920 SV%

Khudobin played lights-out during the Western Conference Finals, posting a .950 SV% and 1.69 GAA against Vegas. He will need to continue this against Tampa's high powered offense to keep the Stars' hopes alive.

1. Victor Hedman, D, TBL

Playoff Stats: 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists)

Hedman currently is the favorite to win the Conn Smythe, as he has been a beast during the playoffs. He has nine goals in the postseason, which is tied for fourth all-time in NHL history by a defenseman. Hedman will be the main reason if the Lightning win the Stanley Cup.
