COREY PERRY SET TO MAKE HIS HABS DEBUT

It appears Corey Perry will be making his debut with the Montreal Canadiens in a game against the Vancouver Canucks Saturday night. With Joel Armia on the sidelines with a concussion, the team has announced Perry has officially been called up from the Habs' taxi squad and is available for Saturday night's game.

Perry practised in Armia's spot on the third line Friday alongside centre Jesperi Kotkaniemi and winger Tyler Toffoli. Paul Byron was absent at Friday's practice as well after taking a Shea Weber shot off the foot during the Canadiens-Canucks game Thursday, but no other call-ups have been made. Either Byron will play or the Habs will dress a seventh defenceman, which would likely be Victor Mete.

Perry, 35, signed a one-year $750k deal with Montreal in the offseason. He spent last season with the Dallas Stars after playing for the Anaheim Ducks his entire NHL career prior to 2019-20. A major focus of Saturday night's game will be Tyler Myers, who took out Armia with a late-game hit on Thursday, causing a concussion. The league announced Myers would not be suspended as it did not believe the head was the main point of contact. On Friday, Claude Julien essentially gave his players permission to deal with it how they saw fit.

"This is not the first and won't be the last for these kind of things happening," Julien said. "Teams will deal with it the way they see fit. Go ahead and do what you have to do."
