DOUGHTY VENTS HIS FRUSTRATION ON KINGS' RECENT SLIDE

Apr 6, 2021 à 11h44      COLTON PANKIW
After a 5-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night, L.A. Kings defenceman Drew Doughty let media know he was not happy with the effort level of some of his teammates.

«I think (our desperation level has) been lacking for the last five games,» Doughty said postgame. «We haven't had any intensity, anyone competing. I shouldn't say that. We've had some guys competing every single game, and we've had others take games on, play good games, and take games off.

«We're down 4-1 in the third period, I sure hope that we're playing a little more desperate. But it's absolutely ridiculous that we didn't play like that in the first or second. Or the last four games. Actually, besides the Vegas one.»

The Kings had gotten off to a solid start this 2020-21 season, hanging near the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division until recently, where they have gone just 1-6 in their last seven contests. With the skid, they sit in seventh place and nine points out of a playoff position.

«We put ourselves in a good spot, and the last two weeks or so we've absolutely shot ourselves in the foot, and now we've got a lot of work to do, a lot of climbing to do, and a lot of winning to do,» Doughty continued. «Honestly, I don't even remember your question I'm so pissed off right now.»

Recently, the former Norris Trophy winner said he wanted to stop having outbursts similar to this, as he believes they make him look bad. However, it is clear he is not at all happy with the play of his team right now. He and his teammates will look to turn things around when they take on the Arizona Coyotes Wednesday night.
