DUBOIS TAKES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR BENCHING

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois has been a part of plenty of trade rumours lately, but that doesn't excuse his play of late. The Quebec native has taken on full responsibility for his recent below average play that resulted in him being benched for the final two periods of Thursday's game versus the Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as the overtime.

"I hold myself to a high standard," Dubois told NHL.com's Dan Rosen. "I know what level I can play at. There's not a lot right now that I am satisfied with. I know I can take a step up in every aspect."

Dubois requested a trade from the team before the season started, in yet another star player wanting to depart from the Columbus Blue Jackets. He played just 3:55 in ice-time in their most recent game.

"Whenever the next game is, I've got to step up my game," Dubois said. "I acknowledge that. I know it, and I'm ready."

Head coach John Torterella didn't sugar coat his feelings on his decision to bench Dubois. In fact, he wouldn't even commit to putting Dubois in the lineup for Saturday's rematch versus the Lightning.

The 22-year-old recorded 18 goals and 49 points last season in 70 games, but is struggling through the team's first five games, scoring just one goal thus far.
