The Anaheim Ducks announced on Sunday that they've recalled top forward prospect Trevor Zegras from the San Diego Gulls (AHL). At the time of the recall, Zegras was leading the Gulls in scoring with 9 points (4 G, 5 A) in 8 games this season.

"I'm very excited, very very excited," Zegras said. "Since I put on skates, I've been waiting for this. I thought I played well [in San Diego], and obviously we had a lot of team success. I did everything I could to help the team, and obviously we got off to a great start. I'm ready to go from here.

"It's every kid's dream to play in the NHL and something I've looked forward to for a long time. It's something my family has been looking forward to, so I think it's going to be a special day when it happens," he added.

Zegras, 19, was drafted in the first round, ninth overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to turning pro, he spent one season at Boston University where he finished the season above a point-per-game tallying 36 points (11 G, 25 A) in 33 games.

The Bedford, New York native took the hockey world by storm at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championships. He led the tournament in scoring with 18 points (7 G, 11 A) in 7 games, earning himself MVP honours as well as the Gold Medal.

Anaheim Ducks fans have to be extremely excited for the future of the franchise with players like Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, Isac Lundestrom, and Lukas Dostal among others who are ready to make an impact at the NHL level very soon.
