ELIAS PETTERSSON AMONG THREE PLAYERS FINED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PLAYER SAFETY ON TUESDAY

The NHL's Department of Player Safety has issued a fine to Vancouver Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson, after he delivered a nasty, two-handed slash to the chest of Calgary's Sean Monahan on Monday night.

The altercation occurred in the Flames' defense end, while Pettersson, along with Tanner Pearson and Brock Boeser were battling for puck possession with Monahan and Flames defender Chris Taney. As you can see below, Pettersson delivered a pretty good whack that looked very intentional.

What the video did not capture was the pair of stiff crosschecks Monahan delivered prior to Pettersson's retaliatory slash. As a result of the incident, Pettersson will forfeit $3987.07 of his salary, the maximum allowable by the CBA.

The DPS issued an additional pair of fines to Minnesota Wild defenseman Greg Pateryn and Philadelphia Flyers winger Nicolas Aubé-Kubel for infractions on Monday as well.

Pateryn was fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA for a cross-check on Sonny Milano (ANH), while Aubé-Kubel was issued a $4,633.62 fine, also the maximum allowable under the CBA, for roughing on Rasmus Dahlin (BUF).
