FLAMES SIGN FAMILIAR FACE TO A ONE-YEAR DEAL

Veteran defenceman Michael Stone has a new deal for the 2020-21 season, signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Calgary Flames that is worth $700,000.

Stone, 30, has spent the last three and a half seasons with the Flames. He was attending this year's training camp on a PTO and was finally able to secure a deal. Last season saw him suit up for 33 regular season games, posting two goals and seven points.

Immediately after signing the deal, Stone was placed on waivers. Considering the contract was a two-way, the move came as no surprise. It remains to be seen whether or not he will be placed on the team's taxi squad or sent to the AHL, but regardless it provides the team with nice depth if they are to lose a few defencemen to injury.

As mentioned above, Stone has spent the last three and a half seasons with the Flames, after being acquired midway through the 2016-17 season in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has suited up for 472 career NHL games, posting 31 goals and 124 points.
