FORMER HABS FORWARD FINDS NEW HOME IN EUROPE

After spending the last eight and a half years with various teams in the KHL, former Montreal Canadien Andrei Kostitsyn has signed with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech Extraliga. The move comes one month after he had his contract terminated by KHL club, HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk.

"I am excited to try the Czech league. I'm really looking forward to meeting new teammates tomorrow. I have been to the Czech Republic many times, but not yet to Pardubice. I'm looking forward to a new challenge." said Kostitsyn after arriving in the city on Wednesday.

"With the arrival of Andrei, we tried to complete the roster before the final part of the season. We are convinced that his experience will help us to the best possible position in the standings and in the playoffs, "commented Dušan Salfický, Dynamo's sports director, on the arrival of Andrei Kostitsyn to Dynamo.

Kostitsyn, 35, was drafted in the first round, tenth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He spent parts of seven seasons in the NHL with Montreal and Nashville.

Internationally, Kostitsyn has represented Belarus on multiple occasions. The most recent tournament he played for his country was at the 2017 IIHF World Hockey Championships. In 4 games, he had 2 points (2 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a -2 as Belarus finished 13th, missing out on the playoff round.
