FORMER LEAF PROSPECT JEREMY BRACCO LEAVES HURRICANES ORGANIZATION

Jeremy Bracco's very short time with the Carolina Hurricanes organization has come to an end. The 23-year-old has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination. In October, the Hurricanes signed Bracco to a one-year contract worth $700,000 after he spent the previous three seasons with the Maple Leafs organization.

With the news of his contract being terminated, Bracco is headed to Finland, signing with KalPa (Liiga) for the remainder of the season. It was reported earlier on Tuesday that the Hurricanes were loaning him to KalPa, but now it appears he is signing with the Finnish club.

"Jeremy is an extremely skilled player. He sees the game well, he has insight and surprise when playing" KalPa's sports director Anssi Laine said in a news release.

"He is a versatile player in the offensive direction. Jeremy is a goal-scoring player who can make his teammates better. We expect Jeremy to come to us to make us successful, be able to win games, and prove that our organization is the best in the league," Laine says.

The Freeport, New York native was drafted in the second round, 61st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Bracco has spent the last three years playing for the Maple Leafs affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. In 169 regular season games, he's tallied 145 points (32 G, 113 A), 28 penalty minutes, and was a -3. In 17 career playoff games, he had 17 points (5 G, 12 A), 2 penalty minutes, and was a +3.
