FORMER NHLER AND TWITTER PRESENCE ZACH BOYCHUK JOINS DEL CLUB

Former Hurricanes and Penguins forward Zach Boychuk is heading to the DEL. The Airdrie, Alberta native has agreed to terms on a contract with Eisbaren Berlin for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

Boychuk started the season in Switzerland's top division, the National League, where he was playing for HC Fribourg-Gotteron. He was nearly a point-per-game player in his time with the Swiss club, recording 13 points (3 G, 10 A), 2 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0 in 15 games.

"Zach Boychuk is a good two-way forward who is very involved in the attack. He is an internationally experienced center that will continue to improve us in this position." says Eisbären sports director Stéphane Richer, explaining the move for the Canadian forward.

He was drafted in the first round, 14th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. In 127 regular season games in the NHL, he's tallied 30 points (12 G, 18 A), 16 penalty minutes, and is a -3.

Internationally, Boychuk has represented Canada on many occasions, most recently at the 2019 Spengler Cup. In 2 games, he was held pointless, and has zero penalty minutes, as Canada went on to capture their 16th Spengler Cup by defeating Czech club, HC Ocelari Trinec in the Final.
