ILYA SAMSONOV, ONE OF FOUR CAPITALS PLAYERS WHO BROKE COVID-19 PROTOCOL, HAS TESTED POSITIVE

Per Samantha Pell of the Washington Post, sources close to the situation have confirmed that Washington Capitals netminder Ilya Samsonov has tested positive for COVID-19.

Samsonov was among four Caps players who were added to the COVID-19 protocol absence list on Wednesday following an incident placing four Caps players hanging out in the same hotel room, violating the NHL's COVID-19 safety protocols.

Samsonov, along with team captain Alexander Ovechkin, center Evgeny Kuznetsov and defenseman Dmitry Orlov have all been isolating since the incident, and have been told that they will miss at least four games as they await a series of negative test results before being eligible to resume team activities.

In light of this latest development, Samsonov will certainly miss more time, due to the positive test result.

Will update once more information becomes available.
