JAY BEAGLE'S INJURY REPORTEDLY SERIOUS AND MAY BE CAREER-THREATENING

Apr 8, 2021 à 9h38      TIM TUCKER
Jay Beagle of the Vancouver Canucks was placed on long-term injured reserve just before the team's current outbreak of COVID-19 happened. No one from the Canucks will confirm what, exactly, is wrong with the veteran and Stanley Cup winner, but at least one report states things are bleak for the 35-year-old.

"Boy, we told you on Monday that the rumour was he's done for the season, right? And now there are whispers that he may have to think about his future in hockey," said former TSN Radio host Rick Dhaliwal on his new podcast. "It sounds like a very long-term thing. I'm trying to figure out what it is that is bothering Jay Beagle, what is making up all these whispers that he's going to be out a long, long, long time. But some whispers out there that, they don't know yet, they don't have a timeframe, but it certainly doesn't sound good for Jay Beagle."

Beagle still has one season remaining on his current contract after this one with an average annual value of $3 million. He played in 30 games this season, scoring one goal and three assists. While Beagle's offensive numbers have never been spectacular, it's the depth and leadership he brings to the Canucks and the team will surely miss while he's out.

Prior to signing with Vancouver as a free agent, Beagle had spent his entire career with the Washington Capitals, winning a Cup with the team in 2018, his last year there.
