JESSE PULJUJARVI SIGNS ON FOR ANOTHER SEASON IN EUROPE

Jesse Puljujarvi is prepared for the possibility of spending another year in Europe. The former fourth overall draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2016 has signed on for another season with his hometown team of Karpat in Finland.

Puljujarvi spent last season with Karpat of the Finnish Elite League after demanding a trade from the Edmonton Oilers, stating he doesn't believe the team was giving him enough ice time. With Karpat, he put up 24 goals and 53 points in 56 games.

Puljujarvi's stance on a possible return to the Oilers has recently softened and his new one-year deal does include an NHL out-clause should he decide to return to Edmonton or if the team manages to get a trade done.

"We have had a very open discussion between Jesse and his agent about what can happen on the NHL side," said Karpat's GM Harri Aho. "After all, Jesse has the right to sign a contract with the NHL, but no one knows exactly what the situation will be in North America next season. With this agreement, Jesse is a full member of Karpat and an important piece of the team for the coming season."

In the 139 NHL games Puljujarvi has played, he has 17 goals and 40 points.
