JETS STAR TO MISS GAME VS TORONTO WITH INJURY

When the Jets take to the ice on Monday night, they'll be doing it without star forward Patrik Laine. Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice announced after practice that Laine is day-to-day with an upper body injury. Laine had joined the Jets on the ice for practice Sunday and Monday, but left quite early both days.

In addition to Laine's absence, Paul Maurice announced that Nikolaj Ehlers is good to go, Jansen Harkins will come into the line-up, and Logan Stanley will draw in on the blueline for Tucker Poolman who is in COVID protocol.

Laine, 22, was drafted in the first round, second overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The Tampere, Finland native has recorded 250 points (140 G, 110 A), 118 penalty minutes, and is a +/-0 in 306 regular season games. In 24 career playoff games, he has 16 points (8 G, 8 A), 4 penalty minutes, and is a +3.

The Jets are hoping Laine won't be out for too long as he played a key role in Friday's season opener, scoring twice, including the overtime winner, and added an assist in a 4-3 win over Calgary.
