JUULSEN CLAIMED; MONTREAL PLACES TWO MORE ON WAIVERS

The Montreal Canadiens found out on Monday that defenceman Noah Juulsen has been claimed off waivers by the Florida Panthers.

The Surrey, B.C. native was drafted by the Canadiens in the first round, 26th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 44 career NHL games, Juulsen has 8 points (2 G, 6 A), 10 penalty minutes, and is a +6.

Juulsen has been limited to only 37 games between Montreal and Laval since the beginning of the 2018-19 season after suffering a facial fracture injury that caused him vision and headache issues.

Internationally, Juulsen has represented Canada on a couple of occasions, most recently at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. In 7 games, he had 2 points (2 A), 4 penalty minutes, and was a +4 as Canada took home silver after losing to the United States in the Gold Medal Game.

The other eight players the Habs had on waivers yesterday all cleared including goaltender Charlie Lindgren.

Additionally, the Canadiens announced that they have placed forward Michael Frolik, and Corey Perry on waivers. This move is likely to place them both on the taxi squad to begin the season, should they clear waivers.

Frolik signed with Montreal on December 23rd for one-year, at $750k, while Perry signed on December 28th for one-year at $700k.
