MIKE BABCOCK'S FIRST APPEARANCE ON NBC CRITICIZED BY FANS AND FORMER NHLER MIKE COMMODORE
Over the weekend, former Ducks, Red Wings and Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock made his debut as an analyst on NBC, which, to put it mildly, received less-than-rave reviews from fans, and former NHLer Mike Commodore, a well-known critic of Babcock's.
Though Babcock considers himself a mental health advocate, his string of questionable-at-best actions while behind the bench would indicate the contrary, which was Commodore's first observation as well.
Babcock began his first segment by addressing the infamous Mitch Marner player-ranking scandal, attempting to clarify, at least in his opinion, the 'misunderstanding' that had occurred between he and Marner, who was a rookie at the time of the incident.
Commodore was joined by several pundits and fans in his tirade against the veteran coach, with some offering some very harsh criticisms of the former Stanley Cup champion.
My personal opinion on the matter is that if Babcock and NBC wanted to collaborate, they could have chosen to use the here-and-now approach as opposed to starting in the past and addressing the Marner scandal, which takes the focus away from the actual analysis and puts it on his questionable history. Just my two cents.
