The NHL confirmed today that the league would be postponing the 2021 Bridgestone Winter Classic along with the 2021 Honda All-Star Game weekend.

The 2021 Winter Classic features a matchup between the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. The game was originally scheduled for January 1, 2021. The Florida Panthers were supposed to host the 2021 All-Star weekend at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida on January 29-31.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to alter the world and the NHL schedule. The events are still hoping to be played in the respective locations, but it may not be until 2022. The NHL wants to return to both locations as soon as possible, and they want fans to be able to attend these events. The NHL plans to have both of these events available to fans with certainty by 2022. The NHL is also considering new events that will allow fans to engage with their favorite teams and players during this upcoming season.

Although these cancellations may take a hit on NHL fans, these postponements will not be affecting the NHL and NHLPA’s plan to start the 2020-21 season on or around January 1, 2021. For many players, fans, and organizations, hockey can come back any time now, and hopefully, in the near future, everything will be back to normal.
