PAVELSKI AND STARS ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE STANLEY CUP FINAL

Last night, the Dallas Stars took a commanding 3-1 series lead after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 in game four. Joe Pavelski and Jamie Benn scored the goals for Dallas, while Anton Khudobin continued his incredible run, only allowing 1 goal on 33 shots.

In the win, veteran forward Joe Pavelski scored his 57th career playoff goal. Pavelski now sits third all time in playoff goals among American-born skaters, only trailing Joe Mullen who had 60, and Mike Modano who had 58.

Pavelski is also third among playoff goals by players drafted in the seventh round or later of the NHL entry draft. Only Doug Gilmour (60), and Luc Robitaille (58) have scored more.

Pavelski, 36, was drafted 205th overall in the 2003 NHL entry draft by the San Jose Sharks. He spent 13 seasons with the Sharks, and was named captain just prior to the opening of the 2015-16 season.

In 1030 career NHL games, Pavelski has put up 792 points (369 G, 423 A), and 400 penalty minutes. In 154 career playoff games, he has recorded 114 points (57 G, 57 A), and 70 penalty minutes. Including this season, Pavelski has made it to the Western Conference Final four times in his career, and advanced to the Stanley Cup Final once, back in 2015-16 where the Sharks lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Game 5 between Dallas and Vegas goes tomorrow night with puck drop set for 8 pm ET/6 pm MT. Dallas, with a win, can advance to their first Stanley Cup Final since the 1999-00 season where they lost to the New Jersey Devils. It would also be their third ever Stanley Cup Finals appearance since relocating from Minnesota. Dallas won the Stanley Cup during the 1998-99 season, lost in the Final during the 1999-00 season, and now have the opportunity to return for the first time in twenty years.
