SAN DIEGO GULLS ANNOUNCE POSTPONEMENT OF PRE-SEASON GAME

On Saturday, the San Diego Gulls announced that their game today against the Ontario Reign would not take place as a precaution due to COVID-19 protocols. The game was scheduled to take place in Irvine, California, the Gulls' temporary home for the 2020-21 AHL season.

Both teams are scheduled to play on Sunday in El Segundo, California, the temporary home for the Ontario Reign, but a decision regarding that game has not been announced by the American Hockey League.

The Gulls are the AHL affiliate for the Anaheim Ducks, and have been since 2015. They were originally founded in 2000 as the Norfolk Admirals, who relocated to Southern California in 2015.

San Diego began their 2020-21 training camp on January 11th, and their roster includes 2021 World Junior MVP Trevor Zegras, and Team Canada defenceman/2020 sixth overall pick Jamie Drysdale.

The 2020-21 American Hockey League season will kick off on February 5th, where the Gulls will participate in the temporarily realigned Pacific Division. The division will include: the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton), Colorado Eagles (Colorado), Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas), Ontario Reign (Los Angeles), San Jose Barracuda (San Jose), Stockton Heat (Calgary), and Tucson Roadrunners (Arizona).
