SEAN COUTURIER TO MISS SIGNIFICANT TIME WITH INJURY

The Philadelphia Flyers will be without Sean Couturier for the next couple of weeks at least. The 28-year-old forward will was injured in Friday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"Injury update: Forward Sean Couturier will be out a minimum of two weeks with a Costochondral separation," said the team on Twitter.

In this shortened season, two weeks means Couturier will at least seven to eight games. For those wondering, a Costochondral separation occurs when your rib tears away from the cartilage that connects it to your breastbone. Symptoms include sharp pain when you breathe, cough, or sneeze.

Couturier appeared to be hurt after this hit by Jared McCann. He left the game and did not return.


In 649 regular season games, Couturier has tallied 403 points (156 G, 247 A), 255 penalty minutes, and is a +93. In 39 career playoff games, he has 22 points (10 G, 12 A), 26 penalty minutes, and is a +1. For his efforts during the 2019-20 season, Couturier was awarded the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league's best defensive forward.
