SENATORS ROOKIE TIM STUTZLE PLACED ON IR, WILL MISS SATURDAY'S GAME VS WINNIPEG

After missing the last two games with an undisclosed injury, there was hope that Senators forward Tim Stutzle could return to the lineup on Saturday against Winnipeg. That won't be the case as Ottawa has placed the German rookie on injured reserve.

The move is retroactive to January 16th, and there is a possibility that Stutzle could play on Monday against the Vancouver Canucks.

In a corresponding move, the Senators have recalled forward Michael Haley from the Taxi Squad. Haley, 34, has spent parts of 10 seasons in the NHL with the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, and Florida Panthers.

Yesterday, Stutzle mentioned that he suffered this most recent injury at the 2021 World Juniors, and that it's been nagging him for the last week.

"It was an injury that happened at the World Juniors." "It was really bad at the beginning but I think it's getting better day by day. We will see what happens tomorrow and maybe good to go tomorrow." Stutzle said after Friday's practice.

The Viersen, Germany native has recorded 1 goal, 2 penalty minutes, and is a +1 in two games this season.

Stutzle lead Germany to their first ever quarterfinals in World Junior history earlier this month. They played a strong game, but ultimately lost to Russia, 2-1. In 5 games, Stutzle had 10 points (5 G, 5 A), 8 penalty minutes, and was a -4. He was named the tournament's Best Forward, and was named to the Media All-Star Team.
