SHARKS TEAM PLANE REASSIGNED AS BIDEN-HARRIS CAMPAIGN, INAUGURATION PLANE

In an interesting story with loose NHL ties, the San Jose Sharks' team plane holds an entry in U.S. presidential history, as it was used by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris during their campaign and on inauguration day.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris repurposed the same plane the Sharks used to fly around the country throughout the campaign process. The aircraft received a custom paint job and traveled to various events and tour stops along the way. Even members of the plane's staff, that usually traveled with the team, were given the opportunity to travel with the Democratic Party candidates.

The plane was not in use after March 11 as the Sharks had their season cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, so the team lent it to the Biden-Harris campaign.

"They said it was a pretty adventurous road trip with [Biden] on the plane. A nice man and very first-class, obviously," Sharks coach Bob Boughner told NBC Sports Bay Area on Wednesday, referencing the plane's staff. "They said that he didn't do a lot of relaxing on the plane. He worked from the time he got on to the time he got off."

Biden ended up winning the election on November 3, though there was quite a bit of controversy for weeks after the election had concluded.

The plane carried Biden and his team to Washington D.C. for the 59th inauguration in U.S. history.

"It's a big day for the USA today, in America today - for the inauguration," Boughner said. "It's a cool little tie-in."
