THE DUBOIS ERA IN COLUMBUS IS NEARING ITS FINAL HOURS

After being benched during Thursday night's overtime loss to Tampa Bay, it appears that Pierre-Luc Dubois will no longer be in Columbus, with a trade likely as early as Saturday.

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the Columbus Blue Jackets are closing in on trading Dubois. Dreger added that a deal could be done by Saturday, with teams previously interested being told whether they're in or out. Two of the teams believed to be heavily interested in Dubois are Winnipeg and Anaheim. TSN's Pierre LeBrun believes the Montreal Canadiens are still in the mix as well.

The Winnipeg Jets would be an ideal trade partner for Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen. Fellow countryman Patrik Laine reportedly submitted a trade request in the off-season, as did Columbus native, and current RFA forward Jack Roslovic.

Nick Alberga, of TSN Radio in Toronto, said he believes the preference is to move Dubois to a Western Conference team, but added the best offer would win in the end, as it almost always does.

If Dubois is still with the Blue Jackets organization Saturday afternoon, the expectation is that he will be a healthy scratch in their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.

Dubois, 22, was drafted in the first round, third overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. In 239 regular season games, he's tallied 159 points (66 G, 93 A), 164 penalty minutes, and is a +20. In 26 career playoff games, he has 19 points (8 G, 11 A), 24 penalty minutes, and is a -2.
