As the NHL postseason dwindles down, many teams are looking forward to the offseason, and specifically this year, the free agents. This is likely to be a large class of free agents that have a varying difference in skill sets.

The free agent market will open on October 9, and there are some players that have set themselves apart from the rest through both regular season stats and advanced stats.

Tyler Toffoli - RW

The 28-year-old is in the middle of his prime years, and is due to make decent money this offseason. He helped the Canucks reach the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2011. Toffoli had 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists) in 10 regular season games for the Canucks, and 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in 7 games in the playoffs. He was 4th in points per 60 minutes (2.43) during the regular season for Vancouver, trailing only J.T. Miller (2.62), Elias Pettersson (2.59), and Michael Ferland (2.45). He could be one of the most valuable free agents available.

Evgenii Dadonov - RW

The 31-year-old quiety had another good season, potting 25 goals and dishing out 22 assists in 69 games. He had 11 powerplay goals, which tied him with Mike Hoffman for first place on the Panthers. Dadonov has great puck possession skills, and he could help bolster any team looking for help on the powerplay or just controlling the puck in the offensive zone.

Mikael Granlund - C

The former center for the Minnesota Wild is just 28 years old, and has had a bit of a drop in production since being traded to the Nashville Predators for Kevin Fiala. He averaged 0.69 points per game with Minnesota, but that number has declined to just 0.44 since he started playing in Nashville. Granlund did have 17 goals this year, so maybe he is beginning to regain form. He can be trusted in almost any situation on the ice, proving he could be an asset to look at during free agency.

Alex Pietrangelo - RD

The 30-year-old is arguably the most appealing free agent on the market. After recording 52 points (16 goals, 36 assists) in 70 games, Pietrangelo has continued to show he is one of the top defenseman in the league. He has exceptional puck possession skills combined with elite power play ability, which would be useful on any team.

Kevin Shattenkirk- RD

The 31-year-old is currently playing in the Stanley Cup Final for the Tampa Bay Lightning, but he should be a top defenseman to look at during free agency. He scored 34 points (8 goals, 26 assists) in 70 games this season, in what looked like a bit of a resurgence for the veteran defenseman. Shattenkirk has shown that he can still be a solid option for any team looking to upgrade defensively.

Anton Khudobin

The 34-year-old currently has shined brightly in the playoffs, making his value skyrocket. He has looked like an elite goaltending option during the playoffs, and that could help him get a nice pay-out this offseason. Khudobin went 16-8-4 with a .930 SV% and 2.22 GAA during the regular season, proving that he can perform at a high level when he needs to be depended on. Along with his stats, he is a great locker room presence and would be a great addition to any team looking for better goaltending.
