TWO NHL VETERANS ON PTOS EARN ONE-YEAR DEALS
Both goaltender Craig Anderson (WAS) and forward Devin Shore (EDM), who were invited to training camp on PTOs, have signed one-year deals with their respective clubs.
Shore, 26, had been at the Edmonton Oilers camp on a PTO he signed with the team in late December. Last season saw him begin the year with the Anaheim Ducks, who he had four goals and 10 points for in 36 games. He was then traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline for forward Sonny Milano. In six regular season games with the Blue Jackets, he scored a goal and added one assist. He also suited up for two playoff contests but was held pointless. It is expected that he will be assigned to the AHL soon after being placed on waivers immediately after signing the contract.
Anderson, 39, was also signed to a PTO in late December, his being with the Washington Capitals. The 39-year-old has had a very lengthy NHL career, playing in a combined 648 career games. While he has spent the last ten and a half seasons as the Ottawa Senators' starting goalie, he also had stints with the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, and Chicago Blackhawks. Last season saw him post a 3.25 goals against average along with a .902 save percentage in 34 games played.
