WINNIPEG FACES ROSTER ISSUES AHEAD OF MONDAY NIGHT'S GAME
The Winnipeg Jets returned to practice on Sunday after calling off Saturday's skate due to COVID-19 protocol. While that was good news, some bad news has also popped up for the Jets.
According to Sarah Orlesky of TSN, a quartet of Jets players could be missing for Monday night's game in Toronto. Defencemen Tucker Poolman, and Dylan DeMelo will not travel with the team on Sunday. Poolman will miss the game due to COVID-19 protocol, while DeMelo will stay behind with his wife and newborn baby.
Forwards Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers could also miss Monday's game. Laine left Sunday's practice quite early, and he'll be evaluated tomorrow to see how he feels. Ehlers didn't practice at all, but will travel to Toronto.
The Jets opened their season on Thursday night at home against the Calgary Flames, and came away with a 4-3 overtime win. Patrik Laine led the way with two goals, including the OT winner.
Winnipeg will look to start the season 2-0 when they face the Maple Leafs on Monday night. Puck drop is set for 7pm ET.
