YOUNG HOCKEY PLAYER KYRELL SOPOTYK INVOLVED IN 'LIFE-ALTERING' ACCIDENT

Some very sad news out of the Western Hockey League (WHL). According to several reports, Kamloops Blazers forward Kyrell Sopotyk, who is just 19 years old, has been seriously injured in a snowboarding accident over the weekend. Many reports state he has been left paralyzed by the incident.

«We are devastated at the news of Blazers' forward Kyrell Sopotyk," said the team in an official statement. "Kyrell suffered a life altering injury this weekend. He is a tremendous young man and an exemplary representative of our hockey club. The Blazer family is behind Kyrell and the Sopotyk's. At this time, we will respect the privacy of his family.»

A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Sopotyk and his family. At the time of this writing, it had already received close to $75,000.

"On the weekend of January 23rd, 2021, an unfortunate accident has left an amazing friend, hockey player, son and brother paralyzed," said Kathleen Zary, the organizer of the fundraiser.

"If you know the Sopotyks, you know they're a family that would do anything for others. Now, they need our help to support their son Kyrell. "

"We're raising this money to help support any possible renovations, healthcare costs, and any additional supports they may require."

This is devastating news for the young player, his family and fans. We wish nothing but the best for the Sopotyks at this incredibly trying time. Please support the GoFundMe, if possible.
