A magical moment as Laila Anderson meets her bone marrow donor for the first time

6 décembre 2019
Most hockey fans are aware of the story of Laila Anderson. The now 11-year-old, who suffers from a rare disease (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis or HLH) became an adopted member of the St. Louis Blues during the team's Stanley Cup winning run last season. She was there to see them hoist the Cup after they beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 in game seven of the finals. She was even given her own Cup ring by the team and visited the White House with them, with players calling her major inspiration for their grueling run to the championship.

Laila was back in the news Thursday night as she attended a benefit for matching donors with those who need bone marrow. She came face-to-face for the first time with her own bone marrow donor and produced a magical moment that would melt even the coldest heart. Check it out:

Her donor, Kenton Felmlee, told Fox Now St. Louis that the connection with Laila was instant.

“I felt a bond with her before we ever met. I think the second I look at her on the stage and saw her face,” Felmlee said. “Every emotion that I was feeling all exploded into so much more.”

“This is something that means so much to both of us. We’re part of each other now; there is no separating us.”

The two were complete strangers when Felmlee agreed to donate his bone Marrow to Laila. They are already making plans to hang out in the future with both saying they now have a special friendship that will last a long time.
