Canes forward Sebastian Aho shares a very strange milestone with Mario Lemieux

8 décembre 2019
Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho had a banner night at home, recording a hat trick and adding two assists, for a total of five points on the evening during a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.

While there have already been multiple five-point performances this season (see Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evgeni Malkin, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand), Aho's 5-point game was a little more unusual than all the rest.

Aho's hat trick contained one goal scored at 5v5, one goal scored on the power play and one goal scored shorthanded. This is the second time in his career that Aho has accomplished this feat. The only other player in NHL history to have achieved this strange milestone on multiple occasions was none other than Pittsburgh Penguins legend Mario Lemieux, who has done so seven times in his career.

Talk about putting yourself in elite company. Aho's hat trick, the third of his young career, will definitely be one that the young Fin will not soon forget.

Aho has recorded 27 points through 30 games for the Canes this season, as the jerks are enjoying another solid season at 18-11-1, good for 10th overall in the NHL.
