Tkachuk, Monahan, Pageau climbing the all-time leaderboards

10 décembre 2019
There was a lot of history last night in terms of career highs and franchise records being reached. Two of those moments happened in Colorado as Matthew Tkachuk hit 200 career points and Sean Monahan scored his 11th overtime goal for the Flames.

Tkachuk is only the ninth American-born player to reach 200 career points before turning 22 years old. He hit the mark right on time too as he turns 22 tomorrow, December 11th. His father, Keith Tkachuk, didn’t reach 200 points until well after his 23rd birthday. However, Keith did reach the mark in 18 fewer games than his son. Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews have been the only other American players to achieve this feat in the past decade.

Sean Monahan’s OT winner last night against the Avalanche was the 11th of his career. He continues to add to his Flames franchise record and continues to climb the all-time NHL rankings. He now sits 11th among active players and 23rd overall. Alexander Ovechkin is in the lead with 23 game enders.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his 13th career shorthanded goal last night, against the Bruins. This puts him into a tie with Antoine Vermette for fourth in Senators franchise history. Daniel Alfredsson holds the record with 25 shorthanded goals. With one more shortie, Pageau could move into a three-way tie with Zack Smith and Mike Fisher, who both have 14.

In team achievement news, the Islanders have reached their 20th win in the fewest games in franchise history. It took them just 29 games to get to 20 wins, although two of those wins were shootout victories.
