Zack Kassian suspended two games

13 janvier 2020
The Department of Player Safety had made their decision, and Edmonton Oilers' forward, Zack Kassian, has been suspended two games for his altercation with Calgary's Matthew Tkachuk during Saturday's Battle of Alberta.

Tkachuk delivered a questionable hit during the second period, but Kassian wasn't a fan of the hit. His wires crossed, he threw his gloves off, grabbed Tkachuk and began punching the Flames left-winger before tossing him to the ice twice. Kassian received a double-roughing minor and a 10-minute misconduct, while Tkachuk was not penalized. The Flames scored the eventual game-winner on the ensuing power play.

How did Mario Lemieux score his 500th NHL career goal?
In an empty net
On a power play
En desavantage numerique
On a penalty shot
On a breakaway
In overtime

Kassian will be missed by the Oilers, he has been one of their biggest offensive weapons this season. The 28-year-old has 13 goals and 28 points through 44 games with the Oilers this season, and he is within reach of surpassing his previous career highs in goals (15) and points (29).

Edmonton faces the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, and then they will play the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday in what will be an important match up in a tight Pacific Division, Arizona currently sits second in the division with 55 points, while Edmonton is hanging onto the second wildcard spot in the West with 53 points.

Following those two games, the Oilers will be off for 11 days due to the All-Star week break. Kassian will return to the lineup following the break, his first game back will be against, you guessed it.... the Calgary Flames. That game will definitely be a can't-miss!

To sweeten the pot a bit more, the Oilers and the Flames will meet again two days later on Feb.1 in Calgary.
