Palve is an undrafted Finnish forward who is 27 years old. After playing in the top league in Finland and putting up big numbers for the past three seasons, he came across the pond for his first attempt at the pro game in North America. It has been a struggle for Palve so far, as he has just one goal and seven assists in 37 games.

Nyberg is a 23-year-old Swedish defenceman who was taken in the 6th round of the 2014 draft by the Stars. He came over to play in North America and has spent most of his time to this point in the AHL, along with a few games in the ECHL. This season, he has six points in 19 games played.

This trade is likely nothing more than a change of scenery for both players who appear to have struggled this season. It isn’t expected either player will have a role of any sort in the NHL this season, however Nyberg is still a young player and could develop into an impactful player down the road.
