Hulking d-man, former Canucks prospect, looking to make NHL comeback

A giant of a man, listed at 6'7" and weighing 265lbs, Nikita Tryamkin could be an intriguing addition to Vancouver's defensive corps.

The former Canucks' third round pick from 2014 left the team as an RFA to return to Russia in April of 2017. He was unhappy with his lack of playing time and was having trouble adjusting to life in North America. Over two seasons with the Canucks, he played in 79 games, putting up 11 points and 74 PIMs. Over the last two years, he has enjoyed moderate success with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL, but according to Alexey Shevchenko of Sport Express, he is regretting leaving the NHL, blaming it on the emotional inexperience of youth. Now 25, Tryamkin is ready to get down to business.

With his contract expiring in April, and assuming the Canucks are willing to give him another shot, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Canucks will enter the 2020-21 season with two of the tallest defensemen in the NHL, perhaps even alongside the 6'8" Tyler Myers.
