Of course, picking these are extremely tough as there are so many to choose from. However, selecting Patrick Kane’s Stanley Cup winning Game 6 overtime goal against the Philadelphia Flyers seems like a hard one to argue. This goal ended the Chicago Blackhawks' 49-year cup drought, and was one that Kane will never forget.

“I mean, obviously it was a great run throughout the playoffs and you think you’re sitting pretty at 3-2 and then they tie it up,” Kane said after the 4-3 win. “It seems like they have a lot of the momentum going into overtime. We had a couple of chances early, I think Kris Versteeg had a chance in the slot.”

This goal is still easily remembered by hockey fans all around the world. No one knew whether or not the puck went in, even as they watched Kane throw his gloves and stick in the air and race toward goaltender Antti Niemi. Many of Kane’s teammates stood around, not knowing whether to join him in celebration or wait to see whether the puck actually went in the net.

“I don’t know, it didn’t seem like there was much reaction from anyone, so I think that’s why I celebrated the way I did,” Kane said. “I went kind of crazy, threw the gloves off, skated down the ice. I don’t know, you dream of scoring an overtime goal to win the Stanley Cup as a kid. To be able to do that at 21 years old, in my third season in the league, and for a franchise that hadn’t won a cup in 49 years, it was a pretty special moment.”

The players for both the Flyers and Blackhawks weren’t the only ones confused as to what had just happened, as the former Blackhawks Joel Quenneville also admitted he had no idea if they had just scored the Cup clinching goal.

“When Kane went by and he was jumping up and down and I’m sitting there waiting, I’m waiting. I was just making sure, that, ‘Hey, I want to see some verification from the official to make sure this is over with.’ And it took forever. But they came in with the video and it was clear it went into the net.”

As Quenneville said, after a lengthy process it was ruled a goal, and resulted in the Blackhawks winning their first of three cups in the decade. The entire decade was extremely successful for the Blackhawks, and Kane’s goal was what started it all.
