KHL and VHL Chinese-based teams cancel home games due to coronavirus outbreak

The outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China is affecting the hockey world as well.

The VHL (Russian Supreme League), whose clubs usually act as farm clubs for the KHL, has announced that its three Chinese-based teams will play the rest of their regular season home games outside China, most likely in rinks located within Russia. KRS Heilongjiang (Harbin), ORG (Beijing), and Tsen Tou Jilin City (Jilin) are the teams affected. The virus which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province has caused dozens of deaths in China. Two cases of the virus have been found in the U.S. as well.



Earlier, Kunlun Red Star of the KHL also announced that it will not play its remaining home games on Chinese soil.
