Alexis Lafreniere booted from game for high hit

Tim Tucker   ·   26 janvier 2020
The player projected by just about every analyst to be the number one pick in the next NHL draft was kicked out of a game between his team, the Rimouski Oceanic, and the Quebec Remparts Sunday. Alexis Lafreniere leveled a high hit on Thomas Caron at the start of the third period and was given a game misconduct for his actions.

If the QMJHL decides to suspend Lafreniere for the hit, which seems like a good possibility, it will be the second time this season that Lafreniere has faced supplementary discipline from the league. He was fined $1000 for abuse of an official and inappropriate language back in November after a fight broke out in a game against the Shawinigan Cataractes. His teammate, Frédéryck Janvier, as well as the Cataractes’ Mikael Robidoux and Leon Denny, were all suspended.

Lafreniere, 18, is on a tear in the Q league this season, with 84 points in 38 games. He was also a major part of the gold medal winning Team Canada at the recent World Junior Hockey Championships.

Unfortunately, the only way to see video of the high hit is to follow the link below. As soon as something better becomes available, we'll post it here.
