Jonathan Toews follows Claude Giroux's lead

Mike Armenti   ·   9 février 2020
Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has had a remarkable career-to-date, boasting three Stanley Cup championships in a 5-year span (2010, 2013 and 2015) and a Conn Smythe Trophy and a Frank J. Selke Trophy to go along with them, all before his 28th birthday.

Now 31 years old, Toews has put another stamp on his very decorated career by recording his 800th career NHL point with his assist on Dominik Kubalik's first period tally on Sunday evening.

Toews has now recorded 341 goals and 459 assists, all with the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (3rd overall).

The Hawks captain's 800th point comes just one night after Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux reached the same milestone on the heels of a three-point performance, in a 7-2 Flyers victory over the always dangerous Washington Capitals on Saturday night.

Congratulations to both Toews and Giroux as well as their families on such huge accomplishments. With neither player showing any signs of slowing down in their early 30's, it seems like just a matter of time before we are congratulating them for reaching 1000 career NHL points.
