Islanders place Casey Cizikas on IR, recall Cole Bardreau

Josh Vold   ·   12 février 2020
It was announced by the New York Islanders this morning that forward Casey Cizikas will miss the next three to four weeks with a leg laceration that he suffered on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. Cole Bardreau has been recalled from the Bridgeport Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Cizikas was entering the offensive zone when he collided with Flyers defenceman Ivan Provorov. He cut his leg on the collision and was forced to crawl off the ice.

Cizikas has 10 goals and 14 points in 48 games with the Islanders this season.

With the injury, the Islanders might have to make a couple adjustments leading up to the Feb. 24 trade deadline. As TSN Insider Pierre Lebrun pointed on Twitter, the Islanders were already in the market for a top-nine forward on the trade market, preferably a center.

Bardreau was never drafted to the NHL but signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Islanders this past off-season. This is his second stint with the Islanders, he played nine games at the start of the season and registered a goal and an assist before being sent down to Bridgeport.
