Jeremy Roenick releases statement saying he's been fired from NBC

Tim Tucker   ·   12 février 2020
Former NHLer turned hockey analyst Jeremy Roenick has released a statement on Twitter revealing he has been officially let go from his position from NBC Sports after making off-colour remarks about his co-workers back in December.

"I'm very disappointed and angry today. I will not be returning to NBC," Roenick stated in his Twitter video. "Though I am disappointed, I'm also grateful that I had the opportunity to share my love, my passion, my knowledge of the game with million of people, millions of fans, and for that I thank you."

Roenick goes on to say this isn't goodbye, insisting he'll be back and "more motivated than ever."

He was suspended back in December after he made several remarks regarding co-host Kathryn Tappen on the popular Spittin' Chiclets podcast. That included joking about having a three way with her and his wife. Tappen released a statement shortly after saying "While Jeremy and I continue to be good friends, what he said was unacceptable, especially among workplace colleagues. I do not condone his comments.”

In January, Roenick issued an apology for the remarks saying he went too far and never meant to hurt anyone.

On the podcast, Roenick talked about a vacation to Portugal with his wife and Tappen where he made repeated references to the NBC Sports anchor’s looks and joked about the possibility of the three of them having sex together.

“If it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it’s never going to happen,” Roenick said.

There's been no official statement from NBC. Roenick had been working for the network since 2010.
