This news was reportedly first broke by a podcast called Quack Attack, which is a podcast dedicated to the films. Filming for the show has already begun, Disney has said. The show is set in current day Minnesota and features the Mighty Ducks as a competitive and skilled youth hockey program. The plot is said to be very similar, with coach Bombay bringing a bunch of kids together to discover their love for hockey and build a winning team.

“Once a Duck, always a Duck!,” said Estevez, 57, who will also serve as an executive producer for the show. “After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in ‘The Mighty Ducks’ franchise. Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney+.”
