Evander Kane's statement on his suspension draws a mixed response

Tim Tucker   ·   15 février 2020
Following his three game suspension for elbowing Winnipeg's Neal Pionk in the head Friday night, San Jose's Evander Kane posted a scathing response on Twitter aimed at the NHL's Department of Player Safety. Kane called out the department and its head, former NHLer George Parros, for what he called inconsistency, adding the system is "flawed." Check it out:

Kane also chose to point out Zdeno Chara's recent cross-check to the throat of Montreal's Brendan Gallagher, which landed him him a $5,000 fine rather than a suspension.

As with any statement made on social media by anyone of note, it garnered a mixed response of support and mockery from many of his followers. One of his more notable supporters was reporter Stu Cowan with the Montreal Gazette.

There were several other responses praising him for standing up to Parros and the Department. There were also, of course, many negative replies.

The most interesting part now will be whether the NHL itself will decide to take action against Kane for speaking his mind. Coach John Tortorella has been fined multiple times by the league for speaking out against things he felt were wrong and it may choose to do that same with Kane in this case.
