Paul Bissonnette gets downright nasty with Dan Carcillo

Tim Tucker   ·   15 février 2020
Paul Bisonette and Dan Carcillo, both former NHLers, are known for shooting from the hip when it comes to social media. An exchange between the two was brought to a whole new level Saturday night when Bisonette, who is now a host with the very popular hockey podcast Spittin' Chiclets, let loose on Carcillo with some very heavy accusations.

Carcillo, a former enforcer who now advocates against brain injuries in the NHL, has launched some potentially damning accusations at the league on social media over the years. He's alleged several times that the league is aware that fighting and dangerous play can lead to concussions that have a lifelong impact on players and their families.

Carcillo took a jab at Bisonette on Twitter while discussing a new article in the Globe and Mail entitled "The Power of Paul Bisonette: How a former tough guy become the most influential person in hockey." Carcillo implied the article was an attempt to shine a better light on the tough side of hockey after the firings this season of CBC's Don Cherry and NBC's Jeremy Roenick, both of whom advocated for hard hitting and fights in the sport. Check it out:

Bisonette fired back immediately and in a big way. "Remember when you used to call me a ni**er in the locker room every day in Wilkes-Barre? Remember when you had a sauwastika (sic) embroidered on a robe underneath the hood you wore in an NHL locker room until the captain found out and talked some sense into you? Welcome to the mud Dan."

Bisonette and Carcillo played together in Wilkes-Barre in 2005-06 and were also teammates around the same time on the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.

If these accusations are true, they certainly don't look good on Carcillo. To be completely fair to him, he's talked several times about how he's not proud of the life he once lived while he earned the nickname "Car Bomb" for being apt to explode at a moment's notice and start a fight. He's also claimed that he's changed his former ways. He did respond to Bisonette claiming to have apologized.

That said, racial slurs and swastikas are not something people would be willing to forget easily. Also, it seems like Bisonette is definitely deserving of his nickname "BizNasty", on and off the ice.
