According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes have come together on a deal that finds Trochek on his way to the Canes in exchange for a package that includes Erik Haula, Lucas Wallmark, Chase Priskie and Eetu Luostarinen.

The Panthers were in need of some depth and this trade certainly addresses that need. Haula and Wallmark will step right up onto the Panthers lineup and provide an immediate impact, while Priskie provides the Cats with some future depth at RD. Priskie played his collegiate hockey with Quinnipiac University and has played with the Panthers' AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers this season, recording 31 points in 52 games in his first year of professional hockey.

Luostarinen was a 2nd round draft pick of the Hurricanes in 2017 and has played in 8 NHL contests this season, recording just one assist. The lanky Finnish center has registered 25 points through 44 games with the Checkers.

The Hurricanes have added a huge piece in Trochek, who is a former 30-goal scorer and multiple time 20-goal scorer. Trochek is signed for two more seasons, following this one, at $4.75M AAV. This is a fantastic add for the Hurricanes at the deadline. Not only does it solidify this Canes team up the middle, but it also provides them with a gritty player who has fantastic goal-scoring prowess.

Though he has spent some time on the IR in the past two seasons, a healthy Trochek bodes well for the Hurricanes in their push for a playoff spot this season.
