The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Raphael Lavoie to an entry-level contract, the team announced on Saturday.

The 19-year-old was selected 38th overall by the Oilers at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Lavoie posted 82 points (38 goals, 44 assists) in 55 games this season split between the Halifax Mooseheads and Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. He was traded from Halifax to Chicoutimi on Jan. 6.

The six-foot-four, 196-pound forward also registered two assists in seven games at the 2020 World Junior Championship and played a key role in helping Team Canada capture the gold medal for the second time in three years.

Lavoie will need to spend some time in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors to develop his game further, but he'll push for a full-time spot in Edmonton as soon as 2021-22.
